Born Jasper Rotimi Lawson, Young Black, the last of 4 children, is no stranger to the entertainment scene. Raised all over the world, he eventually returned to Nigeria in 2006 where he worked for a while as an OAP with Rhythm FM in Jos, an opportunity which allowed him to meet and solidify a professional relationship with Kahli Abdu, co-hosting his Ministry Of Corruption mixtape launch.

Falling in love with the burgeoning hip-hop culture, Young Black found himself naturally gravitating towards the “J-Town” entertainment environment. Seamlessly infusing Pidgin English, English, French and Yoruba into his style, Young Black’s creativity knows no bounds, his numerous cultural influences shaping his particular style.

Relatively fresh-faced in the music industry, Republiq Records Artist, Young Black has presented an offering of  two of his singles, “Ihotu” Ft. Bezalel

IHOTU

and “Slow Winding” Ft. Mesh while we await the release of his “HHIB” (Hip-Hop Is Black) Mix tape shortly.
